The aim of the project is to improve the detection of cancer at an early stage and to take urgent treatment. Thanks to the project the survival rate will be raised and the number of deaths reduced.
Ongoing project also provides health education and health promotion connected with preventive examinations and a healthy lifestyle. Meetings with potential participants in the project and the project participants and their families will be held in all municipalities of Zawiercie and Myszków districts. The meetings will consist of two parts - a meeting with the oncologist and nutritionist, aimed at enhancing knowledge of the early signs of cancer, risk factors and proceeding in case of the suspicion of the disease and the role of physical activity and a proper diet in reducing the risk of cancer.

The oncology screening program of cancer will last from February 2015 till April 2016.

Norwegian Financial Mechanism and the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism, i.e. EEA and Norway Grants, are a form of foreign aid granted by Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein to new UE Member States. Donor countries benefit from access to the internal market of the European despite the fact that they are non-EU members.

The main objectives of the EEA and Norway Grants are: to contribute to the reduction of economic and social disparities in the European Economic Area and strengthening the bilateral relations between the donor and the beneficiary states.

The recipients of EEA and Norway Grants are 16 EU countries: 12 countries that joined the common market in 2004 and 2007, as well as Spain, Portugal, Greece and Croatia.

The total amount of the second edition of the Norway and EEA Grants amounts to EUR 1.798 billion. Allocation for Poland amounts to EUR 578.1 million, including Programme PL 07 – EUR 58 million.

The PL07 Programme is aimed at i.a. cancer prevention aimed at reducing cancer morbidity and mortality indicator in Poland.

Support areas of the EEA and Norway Grants are: protection of the environment and climate changes, research and scholarships, strengthening civil society, health and support for children, gender equality, justice and cultural heritage.
